CHRIS ADAMS SCHOLARSHIP
Chris Adams
September 17, 1992 – March 20, 2010
Chris Adams loved the game of basketball and enjoyed playing Upward for several years. His life tragically ended in a car accident just a few weeks after the 2010 season.
As a younger player, Chris found it easy to get frustrated on the court, lose his temper, and let his game be ruined by it. Over the years, as he learned to walk with Jesus and listen to caring adults in his life, including his Upward coaches. Chris became an example to his teammates, other young people at his school, his neighborhood, and his church. He actually witnessed to other teens and helped to lead them to Christ.
On the court, Chris learned to be very patient. He became an excellent ball-handler and a good three-point shooter. He was a master at using his quickness to make steals on defense. His final season, Chris was one of the main reasons that his team went undefeated, but he never let the success go to his head. He simply played hard, enjoyed the game, and displayed good sportsmanship. Chris achieved what we hope every young person will achieve in the Upward program. He not only learned to play the game better; he also learned that there are many more important things in life than sports. Most of all, Chris learned to win at the game of life. And even though his life ended far too soon, his walk with Jesus allowed him to win “a crown that will last forever.” (1 Corinthians 9:25)
This year we are offering a scholarship for Senior high players in Chris's honor.
